NOVEMBER 2024 NEWSLETTER

A regular meeting was held on November 6, 2024 at the Whitefish Rifle Range with 6 officers and 6 members present.

Range Improvements – Pistol Range new stairs and handrail have been installed.  The club will need volunteers to help put on the roof.   Tentatively scheduled for the first week of December.  Will send email and update calendar with date and time.

Hunter Education Field Day – The Hunter Education Field Days were a success.  The club received a nice “Thank You” letter from MFWP.  Almost 100 students were trained and certified this year.

Hunter Sight-In Days – The club’s Hunter Sight In was successful over all.  We had 161 Shooters over both weekends.  Every year the number of shooters seems to go down.  It is a great public service for the community.  The club will advertise on social media next year.

Member Guests – All members bringing guests to the range are responsible for their guest.  All guests must sign a Guest Waiver to be on the premises as soon as you are at the range.  All shooters will practice safe and courteous behavior.

Trash Can Bags – All trash cans have an extra bag in each can.  Additional bags are behind the trash cans at both the pistol and rifle ranges.  Please remove all the cardboard brought to the range for targets.  The range does not have garbage service.

 

Reminders

AR Style Pistols with necked casings should be shot on Rifle Range Only

Shotgun should only be shot at the Northend of Pistol Range on your own Target Boards.  Never on any WRPC Products!  Please pickup your shotgun hulls and through them away in the trash cans.

A regular meeting was held on September 4, 2024 at the Whitefish Rifle Range with 6 officers and 10 members present.

 

Range Improvements

Pistol Range new stairs have been installed.  They handrail and roof system are being built and will be installed soon.  After stair installation is complete the club will need to build the roof to cover new stairs.

Hunter Education Field Day

There will be Hunter Education Field Days to be held on September 14, 2024 and September 21, 2024.  The Pistol Range will be closed on both days.

 

Berm and Bunkers

The berms and bunkers have been put on hold for now.

 

Road Grading

The road has been graded.  Thank you to member Brian Cole for organizing the grading of the road.  Just a reminder to please slow down on the road.

 

Member Guests

All members bringing guests to the range are responsible for their guest.  All guests must sign a Guest Waiver to be on the premises as soon as you are at the range.  All shooters will practice safe and courteous behavior.

 

Trash Can Bags

All trash cans have an extra bag in each can.  Additional bags are behind the trash cans at both the pistol and rifle ranges.  Please remove all the cardboard brought to the range for targets.  The range does not have garbage service.

 

Hornet Traps

Hornet Traps were hung at both ranges on September 4, 2024.  There are 3 traps at both the pistol range and the rifle range.  Both ranges have fly traps and mosquito traps.

A regular meeting was held on July 10, 2024 at the Whitefish Rifle Range with 6 officers and 10 members present.

Range Improvements

Pistol Range new stairs are being built by Solid Iron.  Parts are being cut and should be completed in 30 days.  After stair installation the club will need to build the roof to cover new stairs.

Hunter Education Field Day

The Hunter Education Field Day was held on June 1, 2024.  There were 23 new hunters certified during the field day.

Berm and Bunkers

After approval from the DNRC we will be doing Berm work at both the Rifle and Pistol Range later in the summer add will be adding a bunker on the Rifle Range at 300 yards and a bunker on the Pistol Range at 50 yards.

Range Mowing

Thank you to member Charlie Mitchell for mowing the range.

Road Grading

Kalispell Gun Show

The fall Kalispell Gun Show will be held September 6-8, 2024 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.  The Club will not be participating in the fall gun show.

A regular meeting was held on May 1, 2024 at the Whitefish Rifle Range with 3 officers and 2 members present.

Range Clean Up
Range Clean Up on Saturday, April 27, 2024 went well. Replaced a post at 25 yards and added one to the bunker at 200 yards at the rifle range. Replaced all backer boards at both Pistol and Rifle Ranges. Thanks to all the volunteers of the day.

Range Improvements
The concrete has been poured for the Pistol Range new Stairs. Solid Iron is building the stairs.

A regular meeting was held on March 6, 2024 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds Expo Building with 6 officers and 52 members present.

Election of Officers
Officer positions for election are Vice President (VP), Secretary (Sec), and Chief Instructor (CI). Current Officers, Melinda Kartsonis (VP), Craig Malicoat (Sec), Stan Bithell (CI) will all remain in their positions for another two-year term.

Gate Lock
The gate lock was changed on March 1, 2024 in accordance with WRPC bylaws.

Kalispell Gun Show
The Kalispell Gun Show is April 12-14, 2024. The club will NOT have a table like we have had in past years. Our table was given away/sold.

Range Clean Up
WRPC Range Day Clean-up will be on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 8:00 am. We need volunteers to assist with the clean-up.

Hunter Sight-In Dates
October 5-6, 2024 and October 19-20, 2024. Volunteers will be needed to help with sight-in.

Friends of NRA Sponsorship
WRPC is a Sponsor of the Friends of NRA Banquet Fundraiser on April 6, 2024. If you are interested in sponsoring, donating, or attending contact, Kindee Nelson at 406.799.0042 for more information.

Range Improvements
The Officers of the Club are still working on range improvements. The stairs at the Pistol Club should be completed by late spring. The Handicap access at both ranges have been put on hold until next year. Looking into Berm and Bunker Work at both ranges.

2024-2025 Membership Information

New Membership year starts on March 1, 2024.

Gate lock will be changed on March 1, 2024.

March 6, 2024 orientation will start at 6:30pm with meeting to follow at 7:00pm.

Officers up for election this year are Melinda Kartsonis, Vice President; Craig Malicoat, Secretary; and Stan Bithell, Chief Instructor.

Doors will open at 5:30pm for members to renew their memberships.  Meeting will be at the Flathead County Fairgrounds Expo Building.

All members, new and renewing, will need to fill out a new application and waiver form this year.  We have printed new forms and need to make sure we have updated personal information.

Please attend an orientation or meeting to fill out new forms, return old key, and get new key.

A regular meeting was held on November 1, 2023 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds 4-H Building with 4 officers and 8 members present.

 

Range Improvements – Application for Pistol Range was approved by the DNRC.  With the weather change it will be completed in the Spring.  Will focus on the handicap access for both Pistol and Rifle Range in the Spring.

Shed – The shed has been moved to the range on the other side of the vault.

Pistol Range – Executive Officer, Ron Bruess oversaw the Youth Hunter’s Education Field Day held on September 23, 2023.  He expressed that it was a successful day.  The officers have agreed that it should be an annual event.

Hunter’s Sight-In – 2023 Hunter Sight-In was a success.  We had 200 shooters who sighted in 222 Rifles.  The club made a total of $2,469.00.  Thank you, Stan for BBQ lunch, for all the volunteers and to all the members who volunteered their time helping shooters.

T-Shirts and Sweatshirts – We still have T-Shirts and Sweatshirts available for purchase online or call Kindee at 406.799.0042.

Range Improvements

Application for Pistol Range was submitted on July7, 2023, we have yet to get a decision back from the DNRC.  Trying to get bids for handicap access improvement at both Pistol and Rifle Range.  If anyone is interested or knows of someone to bid the project, please contact President Justin Beauregard or Chief Instructor Stan Bithell.

 

Shed

The shed has yet to be moved.  Waiting for shed mover to get his truck fixed.  Will be moved by the end of the month even if we have to find someone else.

 

Pistol Range

The Pistol Range will be closed on September 23, 2023 for a Youth Hunter’s Education Field Day.  Executive Officer, Ron Bruess will oversee this event.

Has been moved to the range.  We will be having a work party to move items into the container.

 

Supply Purchases

Tools and a wheelbarrow were purchased for the range.

 

Range Improvements

We received a bid for stair replacement at the Pistol Range.  Application will be submitted to DNRC for approval.

 

Club Phone

The club purchased a smart phone and now will have the ability to send and receive texts.

 

Shed

We will be moving the shed to the range in the next couple weeks.

A regular meeting was held on May3, 2023 at the Rifle Range with 5 officers and 9 members present.

Kalispell Gun Show

Was successful with sales of $2,930.  Sold Raffle Tickets, T-Shirts, and 36 new memberships.

 

Range Cleanup

On April 29, 2023 we had our annual range cleanup.  Several members volunteered their time to replace back boards, cleanup the range and burn debris.  Please remember to clean up after yourself and follow all range rules.

 

Range Improvements

The Officers of the Club are still working on getting the range improvements done.  We have had a really hard time getting bids for work and still have to get approval from the DNRC.  We are hoping, to do all range improvements this year.  If anyone is willing to bid or know of someone to bid, please contact Justin Beauregard.

 

Club Phone

The club will be purchasing a new smart phone.  Currently there is no way to send or receive texts, by upgrading our phone the club will now have this ability.  No change in phone number.

 

Container

The container has been moved to the range.  The club will be purchasing some tools and supplies since we will have a secure place to store them.  There will be another Range Day in order to move boards to the container.  If anyone has a flatbed pickup or trailer and would like to help, please let an officer know.  Will set a date soon.
